Kenny Skeel RIP
Just about to attend the funeral of friend and artist Kenny Skeel today. Kenny did some artwork for Offbeat, most recently the portrait of Jimi McRae for the cover of the album by Pipedreams “Kick Out The Ghosts”. Kenny was a real Edinburgh character, he was a gentle guy with strong convictions. For many years he held vigil at the Old Edinburgh high School, former proposed home of the parliament until the new one was opened at the foot of the Royal Mile. Kenny, with his artist partner and old friend of mine Nell Dunn who I know from school days in Stirling, lived just down the road from Offbeat on the Royal Mile.
As an undiscovered Edinburgh artist, his work was truly fantastic. he did many murals and pictures for the Edinburgh Museum and many other clients. It won’t be long until his work and the recognition it deserves comes to light.
Talking of light….It’s a sunny day for a funeral which says it all about Kennys amazing life!
